THE SCANNERS, THE RADIO COMMUNICATIONS & SECRET RADIO FREQUENCIES!

Amateur Radio (ham radio) is an old popular hobby which connects people through home-owned radio services. People use ham radio to talk across town, around the world, or even into space, all without the Internet or cell phones.

You need to get a license to operate any amateur radio. You will be given one unique call sign. This is your name in ham radio operators society like WZ-9347. Other ham radio operators can call you using your call sign from around the world or globe. You can talk to them for free about anything you like. You can get a Ham Radio trans-receiver from local electronics stores. This magazine page intends to update on amateur and ham radio in the future. Welcome!

On Frontpage: A post for global communicators, ham-radio-owners and all the preppers out there! Download a book that teaches you everything about amateur radio!

-THE TRUE MEANING OF THE WORDS HAM RADIO!

Everyone wants to know the meaning of the word “ham,” but as with many slang words, the origin is murky. Theories abound, of course, ranging from the initials of an early radio club’s operators to the use of a meat tin as a natural sound amplifier.

Out of the many possibilities, the theory presented here on this page, which is condensed from several sources, (for example) the American Radio Relay League’s (ARRL) Web site and the book Ham Radio For Dummies, that is also downloadable on this page, seems to be the most believable:
HAM = “a poor operator”, that expression was used in early telegraphy wiring between operators before the radio was even invented and born.

The first wireless operators (radio), were landline telegraphers who brought with them their language, and much of the tradition of their older profession.
Government stations, ships, coastal stations, and the increasingly numerous amateur operators all competed for signal supremacy in each other’s receivers.
Many of the amateur stations were very powerful and could effectively jam all the other operators in the area.
When this logjam happened, frustrated government, private or commercial radio operators would send the message
“THOSE HAMS ARE JAMMING YOU.” or "IT´S THOSE HAMSTERS AGAIN".
Or referring to that they "hammer you down".

-These hamsters, (the radio amateurs in opposite of professional here), were first unfamiliar with the real meaning of the term, took it up, and somehow wore it with some "pride".
So a "ham" / "hams" were originally another word for "annoying amateurs" in the radio business. (Pigs.)
As the years advanced, the original meaning has completely disappeared.
Now "HAM" or "HAMS" means more or less a "radio operator" or "radio communicator" and the radio communication equipment used, are referred to as a "ham radio".
But it also means a "radio amateur" which got stuck.
Now you know.
